PROJECT UPDATE: October 30th, 2008

With October coming to an end, we are wrapping up a couple projects on the course. The bunker complex on Hole #2 is now full of sand and that area is complete. We have also finished seeding our rough around the course with the tall and fine fescue mix. The greens around the course continue to receive a lower height of cut and they are still on a steady schedule of fertilizing and topdressing. The greens on the front nine are improving with every day. With the re-opening date tentatively set for early December, our main goal in the coming weeks is to continue working to get the greens as healthy and playable as possible so that the course will be ready.

PROJECT UPDATE: October 24th, 2008

The month of October has thus far been a structured regimen of mowing, fertilizing, and topdressing our new grass. The bunker work on Holes #2 and #5 are nearing completion with the bunkers only requiring sand at this point. In addition to the bunker work, we have started construction on stairs to one of the tee boxes on Hole #10. We hope this addition will provide the members with safe and easy access to this area. Our goals for the coming weeks are to continue our preparatory steps to ensure that the golf course is ready for when it reopens. Below are a few new pictures from our regrassing project:

PROJECT UPDATE: October 16th, 2008

Over the last two weeks, we have made some progress on our bunker projects. The only remaining work left is to fill the bunker on Hole #5 with new sand. The back nine greens continue to grow and strengthen while the front nine greens are close behind. The sod on our bunker complex on Hole #2 has taken a firm hold and we hope to mow that area next week. Most of the rough throughout the course has been fully seeded with our fescue mix. As in previous weeks, we have continued to lower the height of cut on both the greens and the surrounding collars. Our goal for next week is to complete all of our bunker work, which includes the projects on Holes #2 and #5. Please return next week for some more recent photos of the regrassing project.

PROJECT UPDATE: October 3rd, 2008

We have reached somewhat of a steady phase of our regrassing project in which we continue to water, mow, fertilize, and topdress our greens while monitoring their progress. In terms of bunker work, fabric has been laid down on every bunker at this point and we hope to add sand to the two remaining bunkers that need it. The rough has been seeded with tall and fine fescue seeds and we will continue to seed these areas next week as well. The collars around the greens on the front nine were mowed for the first time and they are filling in quite nicely. We will be back in two weeks time to give another update as the next two weeks will simply be a good amount of mowing, fertilizing, and topdressing.

PROJECT UPDATE: September 26th, 2008

Our greens are at the point now where we are simply watering, mowing, and fertilizing them while monitoring their progress. We continue to gradually bring down the height of cut on the greens as well as topdressing each green to smooth out the surface. The sod that we used for the bunker complex on Hole #2 and the collar repairs around the greens is taking hold nicely and will fill in over the coming weeks. In terms of bunker work, fabric has been laid down on the remaining bunkers on Hole #18 and we hope to have sand in those bunkers next week. We also hope to lay down fabric in the bunker on Hole #5 next week.
